Hakka Chilli Chicken is a mouthwatering dish with flavours from Indian and Chinese cuisine. The chicken is crispy and the chilli gravy is to die for! Every time I get takeout or dine in at Hakka Chinese restaurants this is one of the first dishes I order.
Hakka Chilli Chicken
Description
Chicken chunks are marinated and deep fried until crispy, then imersed in a rich chilli gravy sauce.

Instructions
- Add all the ingredients for the chicken marinade and mix together until the chicken is well coated
- Add all the ingredients for the sauce, whisk together and set aside
- Deep fry the chicken in small batches without overcrowding your pan on a medium-high heat. Remove the chicken after 5-6 minutes after its crispy on the outside and fully cooked
- Sauté onions, garlic and chilis for about 2 minutes and then set aside
- Pour in the sauce mixture on medium- low heat and continuously stir until it thickens.
- After it thickens add in the chicken, onions, garlic, chillies.
- Add 2-4 tbsp of red chilli paste, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp ketchup and mix it together
- Garnish with spring onion greens
